What is Multi-level? The multi-level program at Sea Road School provides a nurturing environment for 4th and 5th graders in a two-year placement option. Students gain the advantages of no transition between grade levels, as well as the strong peer relationships developed over time. The multi-level teacher gains the deep knowledge of each individual's learning style, academic strengths and needs and is able to respond with appropriate developmental strategies, regardless of grade placement. Fundamental to our program is the belief that all children are unique, not standardized, and learn at very different rates. We offer instruction for two years through flexible grouping and individual goal setting to achieve continuous learning and new challenges for each child. Is the curriculum different? The curriculum and units of study match exactly the district curriculum for all 4th and 5th graders. However, our curriculum rotates from year to year, in order to ensure complete coverage over a two year span. Please read the curriculum information on the 4th and 5th grade team pages for particular information on our units of study. Our instructional team includes parents as valuable partners in the two year experience. How are students placed in the program? The multi-level program has existed at Sea Road for 12 years, and includes two classrooms. All 3rd graders are considered for placement in the multi-level program, however parents have the option to request that their child be placed in only the traditional 4th grade classrooms. For further placement information please contact the Principal at Sea Road School. Multi-level Links
